NMB Bank Plc is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Project Manager (Fixed Term) in Dar es Salaam. The role focuses on leading technology-driven business transformation projects, particularly bank digitization, operational-efficiency initiatives, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and business-process re-engineering.

The successful candidate will manage projects from initiation through implementation and closure while ensuring that they remain within the approved scope, timeline, budget, quality standards, and acceptance criteria. The position requires strong coordination across business and technology teams, effective project governance, risk management, testing, vendor management, and successful transition of completed solutions into normal business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and plan digitization, automation, and business-process improvement projects.

  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, dependencies, resources, and risks.

  • Manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, from approval and planning to implementation and closure.

  • Coordinate project activities across business, technology, operations, finance, risk, compliance, procurement, and external vendors.

  • Monitor project milestones and resolve or escalate delivery constraints.

  • Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions and business-process mapping.

  • Coordinate solution-design reviews with relevant stakeholders.

  • Establish project governance structures and routines.

  • Prepare regular project status reports for management and stakeholders.

  • Monitor project risks, assumptions, dependencies, and issues.

  • Maintain quality control over project documentation, testing evidence, approvals, and deliverables.

  • Coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Coordinate pilot activities, defect resolution, and implementation preparation.

  • Assess implementation readiness before project go-live.

  • Coordinate go-live, stabilization, and handover activities.

  • Support change-impact assessments and stakeholder communication.

  • Coordinate user training and adoption activities.

  • Track project benefits, including cost reduction, operational efficiency, stronger controls, and improved customer experience.

  • Monitor project budgets, resource utilization, vendor performance, and contractual deliverables.

  • Manage project change requests and ensure appropriate approvals.

  • Support the transition of completed projects into business-as-usual operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Recognized project-management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM, Scrum, or an equivalent qualification.

  • At least 4 years of experience managing medium-to-large ICT implementation projects.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and governance.

  • Good understanding of banking operations and digital banking processes.

  • Knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA), workflow automation, and business-process re-engineering.

  • Experience delivering digitization, RPA, workflow automation, records digitization, or process-reengineering projects.

  • Experience developing project plans, managing milestones, budgets, resources, risks, and dependencies.

  • Experience coordinating system testing, implementation readiness, go-live, stabilization, and project closure.

  • Understanding of banking regulations, information security, data privacy, and operational risk.

  • Experience managing cross-functional project teams.

  • Experience managing project vendors and contractual deliverables.

  • Strong understanding of change management and user adoption.

  • Knowledge of project benefits tracking and transition to business-as-usual operations.

  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent presentation and report-writing skills.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing project priorities.

  • Strong project governance and documentation skills.
