CRDB Bank Plc is seeking an experienced banking and financial reporting professional for the position of Manager Impairment and Regulatory Reporting in Dar es Salaam. The role focuses on leading the bank’s IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) processes and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant regulatory reporting to the Bank of Tanzania (BoT).
The successful candidate will oversee credit impairment models, regulatory returns, financial and risk reporting, audit coordination, data quality, and regulatory compliance. About the Role
The Manager Impairment and Regulatory Reporting will lead the end-to-end development, governance, and delivery of credit impairment and regulatory reporting processes. A major part of the role involves ensuring that IFRS 9 ECL calculations are accurate and properly aligned with applicable Bank of Tanzania prudential requirements.
The position also involves working closely with Risk, Finance, Treasury, Credit, IT, Data, and business teams. The manager will provide regulatory and impairment insights to senior management committees, coordinate regulatory examinations and audits, and lead a team of credit risk and reporting analysts.
Responsibilities

Lead the complete IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) process.

Oversee credit risk staging and provisioning.

Ensure accurate IFRS 9 impairment reporting.

Ensure compliance with IFRS 9 and Bank of Tanzania credit risk and provisioning requirements.

Oversee the development, calibration, and validation of PD, LGD, EAD, and loss-rate models.

Ensure impairment models reflect Tanzanian and subsidiary portfolio characteristics.

Monitor Significant Increase in Credit Risk (SICR).

Review default definitions and cure methodologies.

Incorporate forward-looking macroeconomic information into impairment assessments.

Consider factors such as GDP growth, inflation, exchange rates, and sector-specific risks.

Conduct portfolio analytics covering segment-level impairments, sector exposures, and NPL movements.

Support internal, external, and regulatory audits relating to impairment.

Coordinate model validation activities and regulatory examinations.

Lead preparation and submission of regulatory returns to the Bank of Tanzania.

Oversee capital adequacy, asset quality, provisioning, large exposure, concentration risk, liquidity, and balance sheet returns.

Ensure alignment between IFRS 9 impairment results and Bank of Tanzania regulatory provisioning requirements.

Interpret new BoT circulars, regulations, and prudential guidelines.

Implement changes arising from new regulatory requirements.

Serve as a key contact for Bank of Tanzania queries, inspections, and supervisory reviews.

Liaise with external auditors and Bank of Tanzania supervisors.

Establish strong controls for impairment and regulatory reporting processes.

Ensure compliance with IFRS 9, BAFIA requirements, internal policies, and risk governance frameworks.

Maintain comprehensive model documentation, methodologies, and process manuals.

Ensure data used for impairment models and regulatory reporting is complete, accurate, and reliable.

Work with IT, Data, and MIS teams to resolve data gaps.

Support enhancement of data infrastructure and reporting systems.

Support implementation and improvement of IFRS 9 engines and regulatory reporting systems.

Drive automation to reduce manual processes and operational risk.

Collaborate with Risk, Finance, Treasury, Credit, and Business teams on assumptions and reporting outputs.

Provide impairment and regulatory reporting insights to senior management committees.

Present relevant information to committees including the Capital Management Committee, Asset and Liability Committee, and Board Risk Committee.

Lead, coach, and develop credit risk and regulatory reporting analysts.

Set performance objectives for team members.

Develop internal capabilities in IFRS 9 modelling, regulatory reporting, and data analytics.

Qualifications and Requirements
