Agri Finance Specialist Job at Vodacom Tanzania Plc

Vodacom Tanzania Plc is seeking an Agri Finance Specialist to develop and manage digital lending solutions specifically designed for the agricultural sector. The role focuses on expanding access to finance for farmers, agricultural small and medium-sized enterprises (Agri-SMEs), and other participants in agricultural value chains.

The successful candidate will combine financial services, agricultural finance, digital lending, credit management, and business development skills. The position also involves working with banks, fintech companies, cooperatives, agribusinesses, NGOs, input suppliers, and government stakeholders to develop and scale innovative financial products for the agricultural sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end go-to-market process for agricultural finance pilots.

• Develop rollout plans for new digital lending products.

  

• Train and mobilize field staff and agents.

• Design appropriate incentives for field teams and agents.

• Track project milestones and resolve operational challenges.

• Take ownership of loan portfolio performance.

• Define loan collection processes and early-warning triggers.

• Develop appropriate loan restructuring rules.

• Lead field recovery activities.

• Work toward achieving NPL and PAR targets.

• Manage farmer-group onboarding processes.

• Ensure KYC and KYB requirements are properly implemented.

• Support customer, merchant, and agent enablement.

• Oversee KYC verification and channel operations.

• Build and maintain relationships with agricultural input suppliers and agribusinesses.

• Work with cooperatives, financial institutions, NGOs, and local government authorities.

• Negotiate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and co-financing arrangements.

• Manage pilot governance according to agreed milestones.

• Track project budgets and expenditure.

• Prepare operational dashboards.

• Produce fortnightly and monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Support the development and scaling of digital financial services for agricultural value chains.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Master’s degree.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital lending, agricultural finance, fintech, or mobile financial services.

• Experience in financial services and credit management.

• Strong commercial and business development skills.

• Strong understanding of agricultural value chains.

• Knowledge of rural banking and financial inclusion strategies.

• Experience with digital platforms, credit risk models, and mobile money ecosystems.

• Experience developing and managing strategic partnerships with banks, Agri-Tech companies, and cooperatives.

• Strong stakeholder-management skills.

• Project and programme-management experience.

• Knowledge of product development and digital financial services design.

• Strong data analytics and insights-generation abilities.

• Financial analysis and credit-assessment skills.
