Job Description

Assistant Lecturer (Computer Studies)

The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) is inviting applications for one Assistant Lecturer position in Computer Studies. This opportunity is suitable for qualified academics with postgraduate training in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields, particularly those with strong technical skills in modern web development technologies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Bachelor’s degree students, preparing learning materials, conducting research, supervising student projects, and supporting consultancy and community service activities. The position also provides an opportunity to contribute to academic development and innovation within DIT.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach students up to NTA Level 8 (Bachelor’s Degree).

  • Prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises.

  • Conduct research, seminars, and case studies.

  • Carry out consultancy and community service activities under supervision.

  • Supervise students’ projects.

  • Prepare teaching manuals.

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a Master’s degree in:

    • Science in Computer-related studies; or

    • Engineering in Computer-related studies; or

    • Information Technology.

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Science or Engineering.

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.5.

  • Specialization or demonstrated competence in:

    • PHP

    • MySQL/MariaDB

    • JavaScript

    • HTML5

  • Qualifications must be obtained from an academic institution recognized by TCU or NACTE.
