Key Responsibilities

The Quality and Safety Officer will be responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting 5S, KAIZEN, and Total Quality Management (TQM) initiatives across the organization.

  • Supporting the development and implementation of the Quality Management System.

  • Integrating quality management processes into the Health Management Information System (HMIS).

  • Conducting internal 5S, KAIZEN, TQM, and Lean management training sessions.

  • Supporting the Head of Quality Assurance in daily quality improvement activities.

  • Conducting internal quality audits and following up on audit findings.

  • Preparing quality reports and improvement updates.

  • Supporting complaint management processes related to service quality.

  • Facilitating scientific problem-solving approaches for quality challenges.

  • Ensuring compliance with established quality management standards.

  • Assessing documentation practices and providing capacity-building support.

  • Supporting departments in improving procedures, guidelines, and operational documents.

  • Planning and conducting annual quality-related training programmes.

  • Collecting client feedback and preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.

  • Training teams on areas requiring improvement based on customer feedback.

  • Supporting the review and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Communicating progress of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).

  • Coordinating Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) assessments.

  • Conducting nursing and clinical audits.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in General Nursing, Midwifery, Psychiatric Nursing, or Nursing Administration.

  • Minimum of 6 years of clinical experience.

  • Experience working in a Quality Assurance department will be an added advantage.

  • Strong clinical skills and experience managing different patient needs.

  • Adult training, coaching, and mentorship skills.

  • Ability to mobilize and coordinate teams.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to conduct clinical audits and quality assessments.

  • Computer literacy skills.

  • Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.

  • Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.

  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Flexibility and commitment to continuous improvement.
