Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Operating boilers efficiently to minimize fuel consumption and optimize steam generation costs.

  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 22000 standards and company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

  • Maintaining uninterrupted steam supply for production and utility systems.

  • Starting, operating, and shutting down boilers according to standard operating procedures.

  • Monitoring boiler pressure, temperature, flow, fuel input, and water levels.

  • Monitoring environmental emissions and ensuring compliance with operating standards.

  • Responding promptly to critical alarms and communicating abnormal operating conditions.

  • Conducting boiler pre-start inspections, daily Mobrey checks, and transmitter inspections according to SOPs.

  • Coordinating with maintenance planners, condition monitoring teams, instrumentation, electrical, and operations personnel.

  • Verifying that instrumentation, electrical, mechanical devices, and interlocks are functioning correctly.

  • Maintaining auxiliary equipment including feedwater pumps, blowdown systems, fuel systems, economizers, and deaerators.

  • Performing routine daily equipment inspections.

  • Recording operational data in boiler logs and shift reports for auditing and performance analysis.

  • Carrying out emergency shutdown procedures and supporting troubleshooting during unsafe conditions.

  • Following Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, fire prevention, and other safety procedures.

  • Working collaboratively with operators, technicians, and engineering teams to improve plant reliability.

  • Participating in toolbox meetings, safety drills, and operational training sessions.

  • Training new boiler operators and apprentices on safe operating practices.

  • Reporting unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and near misses.

  • Promoting a strong safety culture and teamwork across plant operations.

Qualifications Required

Applicants should possess:

  • Fitter Mechanics Level II or above from a recognized institution.

  • Boiler Operation and Maintenance Certificate from a recognized institution.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a factory or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience working in a distillery plant is an added advantage.

  • Strong understanding of boiler systems, combustion processes, safety controls, and water treatment.

  • Knowledge of boiler water quality management and treatment methodologies.

  • Good understanding of safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
