Transaction Banking Head at Standard Bank Group – Full-Time

Are you an experienced transaction banking professional looking to take the next step in your leadership career? Standard Bank Group is seeking a highly qualified Transaction Banking Head to join its team in Dar es Salaam. This senior leadership role offers an excellent opportunity to shape the bank’s Transactional Products and Services (TPS) strategy, strengthen client relationships, and drive business growth in one of Africa’s leading financial institutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for aligning the country’s Transaction Banking strategy with business objectives, leading multidisciplinary teams, and delivering client-focused solutions across transaction banking products. This role requires extensive experience in transaction banking, strategic leadership, stakeholder management, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Customize the Transactional Products and Services (TPS) strategy to align with country business objectives.

  • Drive franchise growth in changing business environments.

  • Promote client-centric solutions across identified business sectors.

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams with diverse skills and expertise.

  • Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders to support business growth.

  • Ensure effective execution of transaction banking strategies.

  • Oversee budgeting and financial management processes.

  • Support sound credit assessment and decision-making.

  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements.

  • Drive business performance across transaction banking products and services.

Qualifications Required

  • First Degree in Business Commerce, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Master's degree is preferred.

  • 3–4 years of experience in Transaction Banking general management.

  • More than 10 years of working experience in a Transaction Banking environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgeting and financial processes.

  • Previous experience managing a successful low-complexity country operation is an added advantage.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder networks for client sales and servicing.

  • 3–4 years of experience leading teams across multiple banking products and focus areas.

  • Strong understanding of local regulatory requirements.

  • Experience assessing and managing credit decisions.

  • Broad knowledge of transaction banking products, including Cash Management, Investor Services, and Trade Finance.

  • Strong client relationship management experience with a proven track record.

  • Working knowledge of banking products outside Transactional Products and Services (TPS) is an added advantage.

  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.

  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and people management abilities.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing business environments and drive innovation.
