Job Purpose
The Islamic Banking Business Development Officer is responsible for selling, promoting, and supporting CRDB Bank Islamic Banking products and services across assigned zones, regions, or customer segments. The role focuses on business growth, customer acquisition, deposit mobilization, and Shariah-compliant financing while working closely with branches and business teams to achieve set performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
• Work closely with branch teams through joint customer visits and timely processing of customer requests in line with agreed SLAs
• Expand Islamic Banking business and product knowledge among branch and zonal staff through structured training and engagement sessions
• Ensure branch and zonal deposit targets for Islamic Banking products are achieved
• Develop and execute strategic plans to support Islamic Banking lending objectives in line with approved budgets
• Review and support Islamic Banking proposals and applications to ensure full Shariah compliance
• Promote and support onboarding of new employers and customers with high potential for Islamic Banking products
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Relationship Officers, and business teams to maintain acceptable Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and Non-Performing Loans (NPL) levels for Islamic Banking products
• Maintain strong knowledge of CRDB Bank products, with a strong focus on Islamic Banking offerings and local market dynamics
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or an equivalent qualification
• Minimum of 5 years’ banking experience with strong exposure to customer relationship management
• Experience in Islamic Banking is an added advantage
• Strong strategic business awareness and understanding of banking products and customer relationship management
• Knowledge of performance management and change management practices
• Strong communication, presentation, planning, and organizational skills
• Proven interpersonal, coaching, reporting, and analytical capabilities
• Strong credit risk assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access
• Strong multitasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
