Position: Information and Computer Studies (ICS) Teacher

The school provides holistic secondary education to approximately 280 Form I–IV students, with over 50% receiving scholarships. The institution emphasizes academic excellence, leadership, entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

Job Description

Major Function

The ICS Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, participatory education that strengthens students’ academic competence and practical skills. The role contributes to building self-reliant graduates and supports the institutional growth of SEGA as a sustainable and model educational organization.

Key Responsibilities

R1: Lesson Preparation, Planning, and Materials Development (30%)

  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with the Tanzanian National Curriculum.
  • Design creative, participatory, and integrated learning experiences.
  • Use high-level thinking questions to stimulate critical thinking and creativity.
  • Utilize diverse teaching materials (charts, objects, multimedia tools).
  • Apply varied teaching methodologies including IT integration, video, group discussions, experiential and hands-on learning.

R2: Teaching and Academic Assessment (40%)

  • Deliver lessons as per the approved timetable with punctuality.
  • Assess students regularly to ensure curriculum competencies are achieved.
  • Prepare, administer, and mark tests and examinations.
  • Provide additional academic support for struggling students.
  • Offer enrichment opportunities for advanced learners.

R3: Individual Student Development (10%)

  • Guide students in setting academic, social, and career goals.
  • Support students in developing practical post-secondary plans.
  • Maintain discipline while fostering a safe and supportive environment.
  • Report student progress and challenges promptly to the Headmistress.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

R4: Extra-Curricular Activities Coordination (20%)

  • Organize and support essay competitions, subject clubs, debate programs, and other activities.
  • Take initiative in developing innovative student engagement programs.
  • Encourage student participation in co-curricular activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education with Information and Computer Studies as a teaching subject.
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken Swahili and English.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in email communication, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Willingness to live and work in Morogoro and commute daily.
