A wide range of professional training programs, including full-time and part-time courses in engineering and the applied sciences, are offered by the Department of Technology and Education (DIT). The school also offers an Ordinary Diploma, Bachelor of Engineering, and Master of Engineering programs in Maintenance Management, Computational Science and Engineering, Sustainable Energy Engineering, and Technology in Computing and Communication, in accordance with the NACTVET competence-based modular training system. The departments, centers, DIT campuses, library services (LS), and quality assurance (QA) offices collaborate closely with the admissions office. The department makes sure that every student’s academic activities at DIT run well. Serving the DIT main campus, Mwanza Campus, and Myunga Campus, the admission office is located in the Deputy Principal Academic, Research, and Consultancy (DPARC) office, which reports to the Institute’s Registrar.

Admission Requirement for NVA (Level 1–3) Programs:
The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has granted DIT accreditation to administer NVA programs. All DIT campuses presently offer NVA programs: the main campus in Dar es Salaam (ICT), the Myunga location (ICT and Plumbing), and the Mwanza campus (ICT, Laboratory, and Leather Technology).
- A candidate must hold a Certificate of Primary Education (CSEE), a Certificate of Secondary Education, or any other equivalent credential that satisfies VETA requirements in order to be admitted to NVA Level 1.
- A candidate must meet VETA standards for NVA Level 1 OR any other comparable qualifications in order to be admitted to NVA Level 2.
- VETA regulations state that in order to be admitted to NVA level 3, a candidate must have NVA level 2 OR any other similar qualifications.
Admission Requirement for NVA (Level 4–6) Programmes:
Candidates who meet the following criteria are eligible to enroll in DIT’s Ordinary Diploma (NTA LEVEL 4-6) programs:
- An applicant must have a CSEE with at least four (4) passes (i.e., a D grade or above) in Physics/Engineering Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, and any other subject—aside from religious topics—in order to be eligible for admission to Basic Technician Certificated (NTA LEVEL 4) programs.
Admission Requirement for NVA (Level 7–8) Programs:
Applicants may apply to DIT’s Bachelor of Engineering or Technology (NTA Level 7-8) programs if they fulfill the following requirements:
- In order to be eligible to enroll in a two-year Higher Diploma in Engineering (NTA Level 7) program,
- In addition to having at least one of the following credentials, an applicant must have an Ordinary Diploma in Engineering (NTA Level 6) OR its equivalent in the appropriate field and a minimum 3.0 GPA from an institution recognized by NACTVET.
- Four (4) CSEE passes (i.e., a D grade or better) in pertinent topics.
- Engineering General Certificate Course (GCE).
- NVA Level III in the pertinent discipline and a Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) mathematics mark of at least a D.
- Students who successfully passed NTA level 6 but did not meet the basic entry requirements (GPA of 3.0) can still enroll in this program by completing a foundation course that TCU has approved.
- The individual must hold a Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or its equivalent in the relevant field from an institution recognized by NACTVET, in addition to having at least four (4) passes (i.e., a D grade or higher) in the relevant subjects at the Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) OR General Certificate Course in Engineering (GCE) in the relevant field, with a minimum of a D grade in Mathematics at CSEE.
