Position Overview
The Construction Technician is responsible for assessing assigned sites and identifying suitable locations for establishing a Jaza Hub or Shop.
The role includes managing the full acquisition process, from site assessment and lease negotiation to renovation and installation of all required assets.
This position plays a critical role in converting validated sites into operational Jaza locations while maintaining quality standards and meeting acquisition targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Visit and assess assigned sites for potential service locations
- Execute all acquisition steps including assessment, leasing, renovation and installation
- Maintain rework rate at or below 5 percent
- Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout acquisition and installation
- Manage relationships with vendors, contractors and landlords
Core Responsibilities
1. Site Assessment and Leasing
The Construction Technician will conduct physical site visits and complete site assessment documentation for approval.
The role involves negotiating lease agreements within approved budgets and ensuring all leasing documentation is properly issued and filed.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with landlords and stakeholders is essential to support smooth acquisition processes.
2. Renovation and Installation
The officer will identify renovation requirements for each approved location and coordinate with vendors or contractors where necessary.
All renovation and installation activities must comply with company policies, structural safety requirements and asset management procedures.
The Construction Technician must ensure that each site meets structural and operational standards before commissioning.
3. Quality Assurance
The position requires strict adherence to company-defined quality standards throughout the acquisition process.
Any risks or issues affecting quality must be identified early and appropriate mitigation measures recommended.
All quality assurance documentation must be completed and submitted accurately, while maintaining acquisition rework rates at 5 percent or below.
4. Reporting and Communication
The Construction Technician will provide regular progress updates to the Construction Engineer.
The role includes presenting acquisition performance data during expansion meetings and documenting key metrics such as leased sites, acquired sites, rework rate and rental costs.
Critical issues affecting timelines or quality must be escalated promptly to management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field
- Experience in property management, construction management or facilities management
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Proven negotiation skills for lease and vendor contracts
- Knowledge of construction standards and quality control processes
- Strong project management and multitasking abilities
- Analytical skills for evaluating renovation budgets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel frequently to remote areas
