The AI Advisor will play a strategic role in guiding digital innovation initiatives, supporting policy development, and strengthening cooperation between governments, research institutions, and private sector partners.


Key Responsibilities

The AI Advisor will provide technical leadership and strategic guidance for AI-related initiatives across the East African region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical and strategic advisory services on AI innovation and digital transformation.
  • Supporting the development of AI-driven applications in sectors such as health, trade, and agriculture.
  • Offering policy advisory services to the East African Community and assisting with implementation of digital policies.
  • Coordinating collaboration between private sector companies, research institutions, and regional organizations.
  • Organizing business-to-business dialogues and cooperation agreements to support innovation and economic growth.
  • Managing project activities including planning, reporting, partner coordination, and compliance with GIZ procedures.
  • Facilitating training programmes, knowledge exchange activities, and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Supporting investment dialogues and partnerships between Europe, Germany, and the East African Community.
  • Strengthening innovation ecosystems and technology cooperation across the region.

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience

Educational Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in one of the following fields or related disciplines:

  • Digital Transformation

  • Information Management

Professional Experience

Candidates should demonstrate the following experience and expertise:

  • At least five years of senior advisory experience in digital transformation or AI-related projects.
  • Proven experience leading and implementing digital innovation initiatives in international environments.
  • Strong background in business development and private sector collaboration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in AI policy development and digital transformation within East Africa.
  • Proven track record of building partnerships between Africa and international markets, particularly Europe.
  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder projects involving government, academia, and industry.
  • Familiarity with regional integration processes within the East African Community.
  • Experience working with international development organizations or cooperation programmes.
