An opportunity is available for a qualified and experienced professional to join the Emergency Medical Services Department as an EMS Medical Assistance Officer.
The role focuses on delivering comprehensive medical assistance services, including emergency coordination, medical case management and subscription package administration.
Role Overview
The EMS Medical Assistance Officer is responsible for managing medical assistance cases from initiation to closure.
The position involves coordinating emergency responses, hospital admissions, medical evacuations and continuous patient monitoring to ensure high-quality and efficient service delivery.
The role requires strong clinical knowledge, coordination skills and professional communication with clients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
- Plan, organize and manage medical assistance cases from opening to closure
- Receive and respond to assistance requests via phone, email, dispatch systems or walk-in clients
- Monitor patient progress and provide regular updates to clients, families and management
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of case records
- Maintain confidentiality of all medical and client information
Emergency & Medical Coordination
- Coordinate ambulance dispatch for emergency and non-emergency cases
- Coordinate hospital admissions, referrals and patient transfers
- Coordinate medical evacuations (ground ambulance and air ambulance – MEDEVAC)
- Liaise with hospitals, clinics, ambulance providers and specialists
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Coordinate Guarantee of Payment (GOP) and cost approvals
- Review and verify medical reports, treatment plans and invoices
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly EMS case reports
- Maintain updated database of service providers and stakeholders
Service Quality & Business Support
- Ensure professional customer service across all communication channels
- Assist in developing EMS operational policies and procedures
- Support marketing of EMS services to hospitals, corporates and insurance companies
- Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing (minimum requirement)
- Minimum of three (3) years working experience in a reputable organization
- Experience working in Medical Insurance will be an added advantage
Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, clinical judgment, communication ability and the capacity to manage multiple cases efficiently under pressure.
