Objective of the Role
The Assistant Production Manager – Crop Maintenance will support the Production Manager in overseeing greenhouse and crop maintenance operations to ensure optimal plant performance and production efficiency.
The role requires a proactive and hands-on professional capable of maintaining operational discipline, ensuring compliance with internal standards, and supporting continuous improvement in a controlled-environment production system.
Key Responsibilities
Greenhouse & Crop Operations
- Coordinate daily greenhouse and crop maintenance activities.
- Ensure consistent plant performance and production efficiency.
- Oversee preparation of greenhouse structures and growing media.
- Manage crop transition activities in line with approved production plans.
- Monitor crop health, identify risks, and escalate issues promptly.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure strict adherence to hygiene, safety, and operational protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections across all crop stages.
- Maintain accurate production and performance records.
- Capture production data accurately within internal management systems.
Labour & Facility Coordination
- Support labour planning, including duty scheduling and leave coordination.
- Allocate tasks effectively to ensure continuous operations.
- Monitor facility conditions and report maintenance requirements.
- Maintain high operational standards across production teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in greenhouse or crop production.
- Strong knowledge of controlled-environment agriculture and hygiene standards.
- Proven supervisory experience in coordinating labour teams.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Computer literacy, including MS Office and production data systems.
