Head of Cybersecurity Engineering – CRDB Bank

Job Purpose

The Head of Cybersecurity Engineering leads the design, implementation, and maturity of the bank’s cybersecurity technologies and security architecture. The role provides strategic and technical leadership to build resilient, scalable, and secure infrastructures across on-premise, hybrid, and cloud environments, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with the bank’s cybersecurity strategy.

The role works closely with Technology, Digital Channels, Enterprise Architecture, Risk, and Business teams to embed security by design into systems and innovation initiatives, reducing cyber risk across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain security architecture standards, reference designs, and engineering best practices
• Ensure alignment with enterprise security goals and regulatory requirements
• Oversee secure design of systems, integrations, APIs, cloud platforms, and digital services
• Drive adoption of Zero Trust and secure-by-design principles
• Ensure security controls are resilient, measurable, and integrated into technology ecosystems
• Lead identity and access management engineering, including MFA, SSO, PAM, and directory services
• Enforce strong access governance across cloud, on-premise, core banking, digital channels, and third parties
• Provide security leadership for major technology and digital transformation projects
• Review and approve high-risk technology changes from a security perspective
• Support cloud migration, core banking upgrades, and API expansion initiatives
• Ensure vendor security tools meet engineering and regulatory standards before deployment
• Support audits, penetration tests, and regulatory reviews with well-documented processes

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the cybersecurity industry
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, OSCP, CISA, CSSLP, or ISO 27001 LA/LI are an added advantage
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks including NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and Zero Trust
• Solid understanding of ICT infrastructure, networks, and application development
• Experience with endpoint security, EDR, vulnerability and patch management
• Expertise in network security, application and API security, IAM/PAM, and data security
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
• Financial acumen including budgeting and vendor management
• Analytical, problem-solving, and change management skills
