Job Purpose
The Applications Security Specialist is a key member of the Security Architecture team, responsible for embedding security into Agile squads and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The role focuses on designing and assuring cybersecurity controls across CRDB products, services, and systems, ensuring secure coding practices and effective security testing throughout development and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
• Embed security into all stages of the SDLC within Agile development squads
• Conduct threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and application security testing
• Promote secure coding standards and security best practices (OWASP Top 10)
• Perform risk assessments and recommend appropriate security controls
• Review source code and provide actionable security improvement recommendations
• Support DevSecOps and CI/CD pipeline security (SAST, DAST, SCA)
• Collaborate with Security Champions and developers to strengthen application security
• Enforce security policies across development and deployment processes
• Provide training and mentorship on secure development practices
• Support incident response related to application security
• Assess third-party applications and integrations for security risks
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in cybersecurity and software development
• Strong understanding of application security and secure coding standards
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001
• Basic experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD security, and cloud platforms
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CEH, OSCP, or CSSLP are an added advantage
