Technical Operator
Job Description
This role is a frontline technical operations position within Diageo’s production environment, focused on running and maintaining packaging line machinery. It sits at the core of brewery operations where product quality, safety, and production efficiency are directly controlled through day-to-day machine operation and monitoring.
The Technical Operator ensures that production equipment is operated according to standard procedures while maintaining strict compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. The role is highly hands-on and requires continuous monitoring of equipment performance, quick response to faults, and active participation in improving production reliability.
Write Responsibilities:
- Start up, operate, monitor, and shut down packaging line equipment according to SOPs
- Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards at all times
- Maintain equipment hygiene and cleanliness of working area
- Capture and record accurate production and machine performance data
- Ensure products meet quality standards through Quality at Source checks
- Operate machinery within defined technical and design parameters
- Conduct routine inspections using look-listen-feel techniques for early fault detection
- Initiate maintenance requests through condition-based monitoring systems
- Perform equipment changeovers and adjustments during production shifts
- Carry out Autonomous Maintenance activities including CILT and LOTOTO procedures
- Support maintenance teams during breakdowns and planned servicing
- Troubleshoot operational issues using structured problem-solving tools
- Apply escalation procedures during process deviations or equipment failures
- Maintain compliance with quality control triggers and production standards
- Use digital systems such as Orbis, Harford, and STRATA for operations reporting
- Minimize production waste including water, energy, and raw materials
- Raise and close preventive maintenance notifications in SAP systems
Write Qualification needed
- FTC or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum 1 year experience in machine operation or autonomous maintenance in manufacturing
- Strong understanding of packaging line machinery and industrial equipment
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental compliance standards
- Experience in autonomous maintenance practices (CILT, LOTOTO)
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults
- Familiarity with production reporting systems and digital manufacturing tools
- Ability to work in a team-based production environment
- Strong attention to detail and discipline in following SOPs
- Physically fit and capable of working in shift-based industrial operations
