Job Description

AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania is seeking a qualified Supervisor – Security Shift to oversee security operations within the Process Plant at Geita Gold Mine. The successful candidate will supervise shift security activities, deploy security personnel to high-risk areas, support gold room security operations, and ensure effective implementation of security procedures to safeguard personnel, assets, and production processes.

This role is suited for a disciplined and proactive security professional with strong leadership skills and experience in security operations. The successful candidate will coordinate security teams, enforce shift discipline, participate in high-security activities such as bullion shipments, conduct security inspections, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise security shift activities within the Process Plant and maintain required staffing levels.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings at the beginning of each shift and report safety concerns.
  • Deploy security officers to designated high-risk areas, including Mill Cyclones, Gravity Circuit, Knelson Concentrators, Primary Crusher, Mill Discharge, and Smelt/Gold House.
  • Ensure security personnel have the necessary equipment, including radios, body-worn cameras, metal detectors, security registers, and personal protective equipment.
  • Conduct inspections in high-risk operational areas and facilitate authorized access for plant operators.
  • Ensure the Shift Deployment Register is completed and submitted for inspection.
  • Deploy security teams during bullion shipments and other heightened security operations.
  • Support the Senior Officer Product Control with administrative activities in the Smelt House.
  • Ensure proper storage, issuance, and documentation of firearms used within the Process Plant.
  • Enforce access control procedures and conduct perimeter patrols.
  • Coordinate emergency access for operational vehicles to prevent production interruptions.
  • Prepare and submit shift reports to relevant security management before the end of each shift.
  • Maintain accurate and secure high-security registers, including firearm and high-risk activity records.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental inspections and participate in safety meetings.
  • Ensure daily submission of potential loss reports from shift personnel.
  • Participate in security risk assessments and audits while maintaining proper documentation.
  • Respond to stakeholder security requirements and participate in toolbox meetings.
  • Coordinate security support during planned plant shutdowns.
  • Promote awareness of the company’s toll-free reporting system for crime-related incidents.
  • Build effective teamwork and develop reliable informer networks.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by security management.

Qualifications required:

  • Ordinary Secondary School Education or higher qualification.
  • No criminal record.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Fluency in both English and Swahili.
  • Basic security training.
  • Firearm handling skills.
  • RRU training.
  • Preliminary investigation skills.
  • Defensive driving skills.
  • Crowd control skills.
  • Proactive attitude with strong initiative.
