Job Description

TMHS Tanzania is seeking a Medical Supplies Officer to join its Medical Supplies department in Dar es Salaam. This volunteer position offers an opportunity for motivated professionals to contribute to healthcare supply chain management while building expertise in procurement, regulatory compliance, tender management, and business development. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening supplier relationships, securing medical supply contracts, and ensuring the efficient distribution of healthcare products, with potential for future career growth within the organization.

The role focuses on managing the end-to-end medical supplies supply chain, supporting procurement activities, overseeing product registrations, and coordinating with healthcare providers, NGOs, and government institutions. Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service to clients and stakeholders.
  • Resolve customer complaints within 24 hours and escalate major issues when necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and key stakeholders.
  • Network with healthcare institutions and partners to secure medical supply contracts.
  • Support procurement processes for medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare consumables.
  • Analyze market trends and identify competitive medical products and brands.
  • Oversee the full tendering process from sourcing to delivery.
  • Support client retention through effective tender follow-up and service delivery.
  • Expand professional networks to secure NGO projects and institutional contracts.
  • Identify and pursue public sector initiatives and business development opportunities.
  • Manage product registrations with the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA).
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements governing medical supplies.
  • Coordinate the distribution of medical supplies to hospitals, clinics, and home-based care providers.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records and prepare progress reports.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management to support departmental growth and efficiency.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven hands-on experience managing medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare consumables.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and lobbying skills.
  • Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Keen attention to regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to start work immediately.
