Job Description
Business Development Representative (BDR) at AB InBev Africa is an excellent opportunity for sales professionals who are passionate about growing market share, building customer relationships, and driving business performance within the FMCG industry. Based in Mbeya, the role focuses on increasing sales volumes, improving product availability, strengthening distributor performance, and delivering exceptional customer service to enhance the company’s competitiveness in the market.
The successful candidate will work closely with distributors and retail customers to ensure consistent product availability, effective merchandising, proper pricing, and achievement of sales targets. This position requires strong sales skills, excellent relationship management, and the ability to identify market opportunities while maintaining high operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Achieve assigned sales targets within the designated territory.
- Manage and supervise distributors, including order management, payments, and product redistribution.
- Ensure AB InBev products are consistently available across customer and retail outlets.
- Monitor stock levels to maintain a complete range of products in the market.
- Ensure proper merchandising, including brand visibility through point-of-sale materials and chillers.
- Verify that company chillers are correctly positioned and used exclusively for AB InBev products.
- Monitor compliance with recommended product pricing across retail outlets.
- Track competitor activities and provide market intelligence.
- Monitor distributor sales volumes and communicate performance daily.
- Ensure distributors maintain the required stock levels for all brands and packaging formats.
- Achieve key sales performance indicators, including pricing, product availability, and visibility.
- Visit retail customers regularly to strengthen business relationships.
- Ensure sales teams maintain professional appearance and performance standards.
- Deliver effective after-sales service to customers.
- Maintain strong communication channels with customers and stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and management requests.
- Keep all required trade documentation up to date and readily available.
- Safeguard company assets and equipment entrusted for daily operations.
Qualifications Required
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of sales experience in the FMCG industry.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of FMCG sales.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills.
- Good organizational and planning abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team leadership and collaboration skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers and internal departments.
- Strong listening and coaching abilities.
- Good understanding of modern sales techniques.
