Job Description

Shared Site Training Controller at AB InBev Africa is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about employee development, operational excellence, and workplace learning within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for creating and maintaining a progressive learning environment for Level 1 and Level 2 teams by delivering effective training, coaching employees, and supporting competency development to improve brewery performance.

Working closely with production and maintenance teams, the successful candidate will coordinate training programs, manage apprenticeship development, facilitate VPO (Voyager Plant Optimisation) learning initiatives, maintain training records, and ensure employees acquire the knowledge and skills required to perform safely and efficiently. The role also supports continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of learning interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver training programs to shop floor employees.
  • Identify employee learning and development opportunities.
  • Coordinate the development and management of apprenticeship programmes.
  • Facilitate, coach, and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 teams on VPO and operational training initiatives.
  • Develop, review, and update training documentation within assigned areas.
  • Manage Level 1 SKAP administrative processes and maintain accurate personnel training records.
  • Schedule departmental SKAP assessments and ensure adherence to assessment plans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and recommend improvements.
  • Facilitate the design and implementation of foundational operational practices.
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Coach Team Leaders, PEST teams, and Level 1 employees on effective implementation of VPO practices.
  • Train employees on structured problem-solving techniques using appropriate tools.
  • Support the transfer of learning from training sessions into workplace practice.
  • Identify and coordinate suitable learning and coaching solutions.
  • Record, maintain, and report employee training data.
  • Support the site’s performance management process through coaching and employee capability development.

Qualifications Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or a recognized qualification in Training and Development.
  • Experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Experience or exposure to workplace training and employee development.
  • Background in maintenance is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of skills development and training needs analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Skills Development Act and related legislation.
  • Understanding of training budgets and training facilitation.
  • Ability to deliver various learning and coaching solutions.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for employee learning and development.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong self-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact confidently with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Motivated team player with a coaching mindset.
