Job Description

Maintenance Planner at AB InBev Africa presents an excellent opportunity for mechanical engineering professionals looking to build a career in maintenance planning within a leading global FMCG company. The role focuses on developing and managing preventive maintenance plans, ensuring equipment reliability, coordinating maintenance resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maximize plant efficiency and operational performance.

The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance and production teams to plan scheduled maintenance activities, manage maintenance data, optimize maintenance systems, and support safety, quality, and operational excellence. This position requires strong technical knowledge, planning skills, and the ability to analyze maintenance performance while contributing to continuous improvement using AB InBev’s operational excellence principles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for plant equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance resources, spare parts, and documentation are available before planned work.
  • Plan repairs arising from inspections and optimize maintenance schedules.
  • Continuously improve maintenance plans to minimize downtime while maintaining equipment reliability.
  • Maintain maintenance planning systems using COSWIN.
  • Manage maintenance records, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Analyze maintenance data and prepare performance reports.
  • Plan scheduled maintenance activities and maintenance projects.
  • Create, update, and issue maintenance reports and work instructions.
  • Coach and train maintenance personnel on maintenance planning processes.
  • Audit maintenance documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Support and guide maintenance team members.
  • Provide relief support for the Maintenance Controller when required.
  • Lead and participate in multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
  • Promote teamwork, operational communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor team goals and maintenance performance.
  • Maintain safe working environments and enforce safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental, and GOP requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audit maintenance practices.
  • Ensure compliance with PPE requirements.
  • Conduct employee performance discussions and SKAP assessments.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives and support S Plan participation.
  • Analyze equipment losses and waste on key production machines.
  • Monitor and update maintenance KPIs and performance indicators.
  • Drive implementation of VPO principles and autonomous operations.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2–3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance planning.
  • Experience working in the FMCG industry is preferred.
  • Strong experience using SAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good understanding of maintenance processes and best practices.
  • Ability to manage maintenance planning activities.
  • Strong analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills.
