The Chief Technology & Operations Officer & Country Technology Manager (CTM) for Tanzania is a senior executive responsible for leading the Bank’s Technology and Operations strategy within the country. The role ensures alignment between Group, Regional, and Country priorities while meeting local regulatory requirements, strengthening operational resilience, driving digital transformation, and maintaining effective governance across technology and operations functions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the country Technology and Operations strategy aligned with Group and Regional frameworks
- Align technology and operations initiatives with local business priorities and regulatory requirements
- Provide strategic leadership across technology and operations functions to support business growth
- Lead digital transformation programmes focused on digital innovation, process simplification, and operational efficiency
- Promote a digital-first operating model through agile methodologies and scalable technology platforms
- Drive the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance customer experience and business competitiveness
- Ensure stable, secure, and efficient delivery of technology and operational services
- Define, implement, and monitor performance metrics, service level agreements (SLAs), and operational control frameworks
- Strengthen operational resilience and service reliability across the organization
- Oversee technology and operational risk identification, escalation, mitigation, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal requirements, regulatory standards, and governance frameworks
- Engage with regulators, auditors, and supervisory authorities to ensure successful compliance outcomes
- Oversee major organizational change initiatives, including regulatory compliance projects, strategic investments, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures
- Ensure timely and successful delivery of strategic transformation programmes
- Collaborate with the Country Management Team, Regional Technology and Operations teams, business leaders, regulators, and external stakeholders
- Ensure technology execution supports overall business strategy and organizational objectives
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive Technology and Operations team
- Promote accountability, continuous learning, succession planning, and talent development
- Foster a culture of integrity, resilience, innovation, and operational excellence
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Technology, Business, Finance, or a related discipline
- Extensive senior leadership experience in technology, operations, or governance within the financial services sector
- Proven experience leading large-scale digital transformation and operational improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and governance within financial services
- Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and senior executive stakeholders
- Strong strategic planning, execution, and organizational leadership capabilities
- Deep understanding of emerging banking technologies and digital transformation trends
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively within complex, multi-country, and matrix organizational environments
- Senior leadership experience within a global or regional financial institution is preferred
- Professional certifications in project management, risk management, or digital transformation are an added advantage
