The Safety & Hygiene Manager position is a key role within the Health, Safety & Quality department, responsible for ensuring that the hotel complies with all health, safety, and hygiene standards. The successful candidate will oversee the implementation of safety procedures, staff training programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives to maintain a safe and healthy environment throughout the hotel.

Responsibilities
The Safety & Hygiene Manager will be responsible for developing and enforcing safety and hygiene standards across all hotel operations. The role involves conducting inspections, training employees, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with legal and industry requirements to promote a safe working and guest environment.

  • Develop and implement safety and hygiene policies and procedures across the hotel
  • Conduct regular inspections of all hotel areas to ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
  • Train staff on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and hygiene best practices
  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, prepare reports, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations and licensing requirements
  • Monitor adherence to established safety and hygiene standards throughout hotel operations
  • Promote a strong safety culture among employees and management
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures to minimize risks
  • Maintain records related to safety inspections, incidents, and compliance activities

Qualification

Candidates for this position should possess relevant academic qualifications and practical experience in health, safety, hygiene, or hospitality operations. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills while maintaining a strong customer service orientation.

  • Relevant Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or professional qualification related to Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Hospitality Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a reputable hotel, lodge, restaurant, or hospitality establishment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and procedures
  • Fluency in English language communication
  • Knowledge of additional languages will be an added advantage
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software applications
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills
