The Tradesperson 1 – High Voltage Electrical position is responsible for maintaining and repairing high-voltage electrical systems that support underground mining operations. The role involves carrying out electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, installations, and planned servicing of electrical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted mining operations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical faults and respond to breakdowns involving underground equipment and machinery
• Replace faulty electrical components and verify successful repairs through testing and inspection
• Safely return repaired equipment and electrical systems to operational service
• Perform routine, preventive, and scheduled electrical maintenance in accordance with maintenance plans
• Assist in developing and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules
• Assemble, install, and maintain electrical and electronic systems across mining operations
• Carry out high-voltage electrical tasks associated with projects and operational requirements
• Maintain electrical reticulation systems, dewatering facilities, camp infrastructure, overhead power lines, power generation equipment, medium-voltage systems, and ventilation systems
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to optimize equipment reliability and operational performance
• Maintain electrical tools, testing equipment, and machinery in good working condition
• Comply with company safety procedures, statutory regulations, and electrical standards
• Complete maintenance records, inspection reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time
• Provide supervisory support when assigned and promote safe work practices within the team

Qualifications Required

• Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and maintenance practices
• Experience using electrical diagnostic tools for fault detection and troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuit drawings
• Competence in electrical wiring, installation, repair, and maintenance activities
• Strong manual skills with high attention to precision during repairs and testing
• Knowledge of advanced PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organizational skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Ability to undertake supervisory responsibilities when required
