Job Description

Vodacom Tanzania Plc is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager: Commercial Bidding to lead the end-to-end commercial bidding process for both local and international business opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing competitive, compliant, and commercially viable proposals that support business growth while ensuring alignment with customer requirements, organizational objectives, and governance standards.

This role requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in bid management, commercial negotiations, contract governance, and stakeholder coordination. Working closely with sales, finance, legal, technical teams, and business partners, the successful candidate will drive the successful delivery of high-quality proposals while protecting the company’s commercial interests and maximizing profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete bid lifecycle from opportunity qualification through proposal submission, negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Develop bid strategies aligned with customer requirements, business objectives, competitive positioning, profitability, and solution feasibility.
  • Ensure all bid submissions comply with internal governance, financial, legal, and commercial approval requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks before bid submission.
  • Review, negotiate, and obtain approvals for customer contracts, Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and commercial terms.
  • Protect business interests while meeting customer expectations during contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance, Legal, Technical, Partners, and Affiliates, to deliver high-quality and timely proposals.
  • Support the development of customer-focused solutions for complex commercial opportunities.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Commerce, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in bid management, commercial management, proposal development, or sales support.
  • Experience in contract review, commercial negotiation, and governance approval processes.
  • Telecommunications or technology industry experience is preferred.
  • Project Management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is an added advantage.
  • Strong expertise in bid and proposal management.
  • Excellent commercial and financial acumen.
  • Good understanding of contract management and corporate governance.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and cross-functional teams.
