Job Description

A reputable manufacturing company in Morogoro, Tanzania, is seeking qualified and motivated candidates to fill the position of Multiskilled Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating production equipment, maintaining packing line performance, troubleshooting equipment faults, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about manufacturing operations, equipment maintenance, and process optimization in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment according to SHERQ and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) standards.
• Follow site safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
• Participate in safety and environmental risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, ethical, and legal standards.
• Prepare packing materials at the beginning of each shift.
• Perform fine-tuning and adjustments on packing line equipment to optimize throughput and quality.
• Conduct regular calibration of weighing systems within the packing line.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and carry out basic repairs, including replacing motors, belts, shafts, and pulleys.
• Carry out quality control checks and inspections on the production line.
• Inspect equipment to identify existing and potential faults.
• Isolate and de-isolate production equipment according to established procedures.
• Restore equipment to standard operating conditions through adjustments and corrective actions.
• Conduct effective shift handovers, ensuring all operational, safety, and quality issues are communicated.
• Collect samples and complete required documentation.
• Perform basic autonomous maintenance activities, including lubrication and minor component replacement.
• Support the Reliability Foreman in maintenance activities when required.
• Identify production losses, waste, downtime, and quality issues, and recommend improvement measures.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Train and coach team members within areas of expertise.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related technical field.
• Minimum of three years of experience in a quality-focused and performance-driven factory environment.
• Experience operating large-scale automated machinery is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in Siemens PLC systems will be an added advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production environment.
• Experience in continuous improvement processes, changeovers, and production handovers is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Strong technical and operational skills.
