Job Description

Hannah Bennie School (HBS) was established to provide children in Kigamboni with access to high-quality English-medium education close to home. As the school continues to expand its academic facilities and infrastructure, it remains committed to delivering well-planned, safe, and sustainable construction projects that support excellence in teaching, learning, and student development.

To support its ongoing growth and development initiatives, HBS is seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Project Manager to oversee building and infrastructure projects from planning through completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project execution, coordinating stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise building construction projects from inception to handover
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and implementation strategies
  • Monitor project execution against approved timelines, budgets, and performance targets
  • Manage contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and other project stakeholders
  • Ensure construction works meet quality standards and are completed within agreed timelines
  • Ensure compliance with CRB regulations, OSHA requirements, building codes, and approved project drawings
  • Review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), project variations, and contractors’ progress claims
  • Certify completed works and recommend payments in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance assessments
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures
  • Resolve technical, contractual, and site-related issues in a timely manner
  • Coordinate procurement activities related to construction projects
  • Prepare and submit progress, cost, risk, and performance reports to senior management
  • Maintain project documentation, records, and compliance reports throughout the project lifecycle

Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) or Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB) is mandatory
  • Registration with the Contractors Registration Board (CRB) is an added advantage
  • Minimum of seven years of experience managing building construction or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction contract management, BOQs, procurement procedures, and project controls
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Strong understanding of Tanzanian construction regulations and safety standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
