Job Description
Hannah Bennie School (HBS) was established to provide children in Kigamboni with access to high-quality English-medium education close to home. The school is committed not only to academic excellence but also to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and secure transportation of its students through professionally managed school transport services.
To support its transportation operations, HBS is seeking a highly responsible and experienced School Bus Driver to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting students and staff safely and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of road safety, vehicle care, and child protection.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport students, staff, and authorized passengers along assigned routes and schedules
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any defects or maintenance concerns
- Comply with all traffic regulations, school transportation policies, safety procedures, and LATRA requirements
- Maintain professional conduct and uphold child-safeguarding standards when interacting with students, parents, and staff
- Work closely with the bus attendant to ensure safe boarding, seating, and disembarking of students
- Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel consumption records, mileage reports, and vehicle documentation
- Ensure the assigned vehicle remains clean, safe, and roadworthy at all times
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established accident and incident reporting procedures
- Assist with minor vehicle troubleshooting and basic roadside maintenance when necessary
- Report safety concerns, route issues, and transportation incidents to management promptly
Qualification Required:
- Valid Tanzanian Class C or C1 Driving Licence with authorization to operate public service vehicles
- Minimum Form IV (CSEE) certificate
- At least ten years of professional driving experience, including experience in PSV or school transportation services
- Clean driving record and valid Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct)
- Defensive Driving Certificate and First Aid Training are added advantages
- Basic vehicle repair and troubleshooting skills, including tyre changes, jump-start procedures, fluid checks, and minor roadside repairs
- Basic computer and smartphone literacy to use fleet-tracking applications and official communication channels
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and passenger transport procedures
- High level of integrity, responsibility, and professionalism
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies
