Job Description

The Zanzibar Revenue Authority (ZRA) is a government institution established under the Zanzibar Revenue Authority Act No. 11 of 2022, responsible for collecting government revenue from domestic sources and ensuring compliance with tax laws. To strengthen its operational capacity and improve data-driven decision-making, ZRA is inviting qualified Zanzibari citizens to apply for the position of Data Analyst on a twelve-month temporary employment contract based in Unguja.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for young professionals with strong analytical and technical skills to support revenue management through data analysis, reporting, forecasting, and performance monitoring. The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of ZRA’s data systems and operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, process, and analyze data from various ZRA systems.
  • Prepare analytical and statistical reports to support management decision-making.
  • Analyze trends in revenue collection, taxpayers, and tax operations to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Develop and maintain performance monitoring dashboards.
  • Detect revenue loss patterns using data analysis techniques.
  • Analyze taxpayer data and recommend operational improvements.
  • Forecast revenue trends and key performance indicators using statistical methods.
  • Assist in improving data quality, accuracy, and integrity across ZRA systems.
  • Prepare regular data analysis reports for supervisors and management.
  • Perform other professional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification Required

  • Must be a Zanzibari citizen.
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Statistical Analysis, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Must be 30 years of age or younger.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, STATA, R, or Python.
  • Understanding of SQL for data extraction and database analysis.
  • Ability to develop dashboards, analytical reports, and data visualizations.
  • Ability to conduct big data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and risks affecting revenue collection.
  • Ability to interpret analytical findings and present them clearly for management decision-making.
  • Honest, ethical, and capable of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to work independently.
