Job Description

The Logistics Coordinator role is responsible for ensuring smooth, timely, and cost-efficient distribution of cement products from the plant to customers. Responsibilities
- Promote safety awareness among drivers and logistics staff
- Champion sustainability initiatives such as fuel efficiency and emissions reduction
- Ensure proper use of online truck inspection and tracking systems
- Conduct training and safety discussions with transport teams
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational discipline
- Coordinate daily cement deliveries based on confirmed orders
- Work with packing plant teams to schedule truck loading
- Monitor truck turnaround time and improve operational efficiency
- Optimize backhaul utilization to reduce transport costs
- Receive and validate customer orders and payment confirmations
- Coordinate with finance to ensure payment clearance before release of deliveries
- Manage truck flow within plant and yard areas to prevent congestion
- Enforce safety and access control procedures within logistics areas
- Provide real-time delivery updates to customers
- Handle customer inquiries related to dispatch and documentation
- Promote digital tools for improved customer service and logistics tracking
- Ensure accurate handling of export and cross-border documentation
- Process logistics permits and regulatory paperwork
- Maintain accurate digital records including delivery notes and transport logs
- Ensure compliance with transport and export regulations
- Coordinate inbound and outbound port activities with relevant authorities
- Liaise with port authorities, customs, and shipping agents to minimize delays
- Support procurement in managing transport contracts and supplier performance
- Monitor transporter KPIs and conduct performance evaluations
- Reconcile transporter invoices and resolve payment discrepancies
- Follow up on payments and promote self-billing systems
- Coordinate raw material deliveries and ensure timely unloading
- Maintain optimal stock levels in coordination with procurement and production
- Monitor goods in transit to ensure timely delivery
- Improve backhaul efficiency and overall logistics cost control
- Ensure smooth loading and unloading operations across the supply chain
Qualification required
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in logistics coordination
- Experience in cement, construction materials, or bulk cargo logistics (preferred)
- Proficiency in MS Office and logistics systems (TMS, ERP, tracking tools)
- Knowledge of Tanzanian transport regulations and export procedures
- Strong coordination, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with port operations and export documentation
- Understanding of transport contracts and compliance requirements
- Strong attention to detail
