Full Job Description
Kigoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) is inviting applications from qualified, motivated, and performance-driven Tanzanians for the position of ICT Officer Volunteer. KUWASA is an autonomous utility responsible for providing clean water supply and sanitation services in Kigoma Municipality under the supervision of its Board of Directors.
The position is intended to support the Authority’s information and communication technology operations, including database management, ICT systems support, network operations, and maintenance of computer systems used in water billing and customer management processes. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring efficient and secure operation of ICT infrastructure and systems within the Authority.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and updating organizational databases.
- Verifying customer data in the customer master file to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Troubleshooting and resolving ICT-related problems reported by system users.
- Monitoring use of IT systems including user identity, access time, accessed information, and user codes while maintaining records for audit and security purposes.
- Maintaining computer equipment and supporting hardware infrastructure.
- Operating and monitoring computer network servers.
- Checking computer programs and outputs to ensure water bills are processed accurately and on time based on correct customer information, water consumption, and approved water tariffs.
- Identifying and evaluating business opportunities for provision of Electronic Data Processing (EDP) services to other organizations in order to maximize utilization of the Authority’s ICT facilities.
- Performing any other ICT-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Data Science Management, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Communication, Information Management Systems, Computer Science with Statistics, or related fields from recognized institutions.
- Good understanding of ICT systems, databases, networking, and computer hardware maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide effective ICT support services.
- Knowledge of data management and information security practices will be an added advantage.
- Computer literacy and ability to work in a technology-driven environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
General Conditions:
- The volunteer appointment shall be for a period of one year.
- Applicants must clearly indicate the position applied for in the heading of the application letter and on the envelope.
- Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure certification by TCU and NECTA.
- Submission of forged documents or false information will result in legal action.
- Hand delivery of applications is not permitted.
