Kigoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) is inviting applications from qualified and motivated Tanzanians to fill the position of GIS Officer Volunteer. KUWASA is an autonomous utility responsible for the provision and management of clean water supply and sanitation services in Kigoma Municipality.

The position is intended to support the Authority in mapping, surveying, and managing geographical information related to water and sewerage infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist in improving the accuracy of utility network data and customer location information through Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies.

Responsibilities include:

• Surveying and creating maps for water supply networks.
• Surveying and developing sewerage network maps.
• Surveying, collecting, and locating customer information using GIS software.
• Compiling geographical data from multiple sources including field surveys, observations, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
• Supporting spatial data management and mapping activities within the Authority.
• Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor Degree of Science in Geoinformatics, Geomatics, or related fields from a recognized institution.
• Knowledge of GIS software applications and mapping techniques will be an added advantage.
• Ability to conduct field surveys and manage spatial data effectively.
• Good analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
• Must be a Tanzanian citizen.

General Conditions:

• The volunteer appointment shall be for a period of one year.
• Applicants must clearly indicate the position applied for in the application letter heading and on the envelope.
• Applicants must be computer literate.
• Submission of forged certificates or false information will result in legal action.
• Candidates with foreign qualifications must ensure certification by TCU and NECTA.
• Hand delivery of applications to KUWASA is not permitted.
• No payment is required during the application process.
