The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Project Associate (MECC) to support field-level coordination, implementation follow-up, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement for resilience and climate-induced displacement interventions in Kigoma, Tanzania. The role focuses on ensuring effective delivery of community-based activities, inclusive participation of affected populations, and strong coordination with local authorities and partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day field implementation of project activities and maintain liaison with local authorities, community representatives, service providers, and partners.
- Facilitate inclusive community engagement, consultations, and capacity-building activities, ensuring participation of diverse and displacement-affected groups.
- Support coordination and information-sharing to align community priorities with local planning and programme activities.
- Contribute to preparedness, risk management, and early warning or anticipatory action activities, including mapping communication channels and community structures.
- Assist in community-based assessments and data collection, ensuring adherence to quality, safeguarding, and do-no-harm standards.
- Support community planning processes, including identification of resilience priorities, documentation of actions, and follow-up with stakeholders.
- Support delivery and monitoring of recovery and resilience interventions, including livelihoods and infrastructure rehabilitation activities.
- Facilitate social cohesion and dialogue activities and promote inclusion of displacement-affected communities in decision-making structures.
- Track progress of implementing partners against workplans and compile compliance and performance information.
- Support awareness of available services and referral mechanisms for affected communities.
- Maintain monitoring and reporting systems, including activity trackers, documentation, lessons learned, and risk flagging.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education
- High school diploma with six years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Disaster Management, Development Studies, Disaster Risk Reduction, Community Development, Social Sciences, or related field with four years of experience.
Experience
- Experience in humanitarian, recovery, resilience, or development programming.
- Experience in climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, community engagement, and coordination with local authorities.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders in field settings.
- Experience in project monitoring and reporting is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work in field conditions with frequent travel.
- Knowledge of community structures and local governance systems.
- Basic understanding of climate action and resilience programming.
- Ability to support implementing partners and track progress.
- Familiarity with UN or international organization systems is an advantage.
- Strong English and Swahili language proficiency.
