Ifakara Health Institute is a leading health research organization in Africa recognized for its contributions in biomedical research, intervention studies, health systems research, and policy translation. Through research, training, and service delivery, the institute continues to support innovations aimed at improving healthcare and community well-being.
Through the PfVIMT Project, Ifakara Health Institute is seeking to recruit one qualified Field Worker who will be stationed in Bagamoyo to support community engagement activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Community Engagement Team, Project Coordinator, Lead Clinician, and Project Leader to support field coordination, community sensitization, recruitment activities, and other project-related assignments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build trust, improve communication, and support successful project outcomes
- Enhance community protection, participation, legitimacy, and shared responsibility in research activities
- Engage communities in discussions to increase awareness and encourage participation in research activities
- Support community engagement from the beginning throughout the project implementation process
- Maintain long-term partnerships with communities
- Support study and community engagement coordinators in planning, organizing, and coordinating study activities
- Establish and maintain collaboration with participating health facilities and community stakeholders
- Support sensitization and recruitment activities for intended studies
- Provide support in proposal development, data collection, analysis, and organization of DSF activities
- Monitor participant satisfaction and complaints through feedback collection tools and coordinate with relevant staff to address concerns
- Assist in training staff involved in research on the use of data collection tools such as interview guides
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
Desired Skills
- Cultural competence and understanding of rural communities
- Basic digital skills including Microsoft Office and data management tools
Essential Qualifications
- Certificate in Social Work, Community Development, or related fields
Preferred Language Skills
- Fluency in Kiswahili and English
